[2B04] Effects of the Degree of Axial Mixing on the Separation Performance of a Trickle-Bed Type Packed Column for the Water-Hydrogen Chemical Exchange
Keywords:Hydrogen isotope separation, water-hydrogen chemical exchange, trickle-bed type packed column, impulse response, axial mixing
A trickle bed packed with porous silica and Dixon rings was constructed to simulate a water-hydrogen chemical exchange column for hydrogen isotope separation. The impulse response of the packed column was measured under various flow conditions to evaluate axial mixing. Using the channeling stage model developed in our laboratory, the obtained information on axial mixing was used as input to evaluate the effect of the degree of axial mixing on the separation performance of the water-hydrogen chemical exchange column. The results were compared with isotope separation experiments to confirm their validity.
