[2B07] Application of Electrical Conductivity Meter to Transient Response Analyses of Chromatography Columns for Separation of Li Isotopes
Keywords:simulated moving bed, separation of lithium isotopes, electrical conductivity meter, transient response analyses
For the purpose of high concentration of lithium isotopes by chromatography technology, a method by applying HPLC columns to simulated moving bed process (SMB) is examined. To realize this process, it is necessary to select an adsorbent, eluent, equilibrium adsorption system, and adsorption column suitable for the process. Therefore, transient response experiments were conducted on a single column, and transient response curves were measured using an electrical conductivity meter. Moment analyses were performed on the obtained curves to evaluate the Peclet number and selectivity coefficient. A simulation code based on the diffusion-advection equation including the adsorption/desorption term was made, and the Peclet number and selectivity coefficient obtained were input and used to simulate mass transfer in a chromatographic column for separation of Li isotopes.
