[2C23] Irradiation behavior evaluation of Small Modular Reactor fuel at high burnup

Keywords:SMR, nuclear fuel behavior, High burnup

The small modular reactor (SMR) is expected to reduce the initial cost by suppressing the electrical output, improve the inherent safety of the passive safety reactor, and be a multi-purpose remote power source such as heat utilization other than power generation. So, it is being developed in many countries. In addition, SMR aims to reduce operation and maintenance costs by operating with a small number of operator, extending the fuel refueling period, and increasing the burnup of fuel. However, since there is little knowledge about high burnup of fuel under SMR conditions, the effects of high burnup on fuel irradiation behavior such as FP gas release, corrosion, and fatigue were investigated.
