Contaminated bath salts, such as LiCl-KCl and NaCl-2CsCl, are generated by pyroprocessing. The halide salts should be decontaminated in advance with disposal. Since Cl cause corrosion of equipment, pipes and containers, Cl in the wastes has to be chemically stabilized. In this study, we focused on chlorapatite which is natural mineral containing Cl, and synthesis of the chlorapatite and verification Cl stability in the products were conducted. Regents as Ca and P sources, and CsCl were mixed, and then heated with various temperature conditions. Leaching test on the products with pure water was carried out. A part of Cl in the products was remained after the test. FT-IR analysis on the product suggested formation of P-Cl bonds, and the formation must be one of the encapsulation mechanisms of Cl inside the natural ore.
