[2G03] Effect of Internal Microstructure of Metal Micro Honeycomb Porous Plate on Pool Boiling Critical Heat Flux
Keywords:Pool Boiling, Enhancement of Critical Heat Flux, IVR, Honeycomb Porous Plate, Electrodeposition
In recent years, the In Vessel Retention (IVR) method using boiling water cooling has been attracting attention as an emergency cooling method for nuclear reactor accidents. To prevent melt-through in IVR, a high heat flux of 4 MW/m2 must be removed at the bottom of the pressure vessel. However, the critical heat flux (CHF) at the saturated pool boiling of water is much lower than that. We have fabricated a porous copper micro honeycomb by electrodeposition and found that it can remove heat with a high heat flux of about 4 MW/m2. In this presentation, we report on our experimental investigation of the influence of the geometry of the porous micro honeycomb and the wettability of the inside of the porous micro honeycomb on the CHF.
