[2H07] Feasibility Study of Integral Molten Chloride Salt Fast Reactor (III)
(7) Research about compatibility under ion irradiation on Ni-based alloy with chloride salt
Keywords:chloride salt, ion irradiation, irradiation damage, Ni-based alloy
There are two types of molten salt, chloride salt and fluoride salt, but only the latter was used in the experimental reactor. Therefore, studies are needed when chloride salts are used. The purpose of this study was to investigate and clarify the effect of irradiation defects in irradiated materials on corrosion in the initial reaction process using ion irradiation, based on microstructural observations. Hastelloy-C276 and Hastelloy-N, Ni-based alloys, were irradiated with He1+ ions equivalent using a tandem accelerator. The reaction tests were conducted at 600℃ for 10h using NaCl-CaCl2-CeCl3. Comparing the cross-sectional images before and after the reaction, it was confirmed that the irradiation defect aggregates had no effect on corrosion in high temperature and molten salt environments.
