[2I18] Small-angle neutron scattering measurements of hardened cement paste with light and heavy water
Keywords:Nanoscale structure, Cement paste, Compressive strength, Small angle neutron scattering, PHITS code
To characterize a nanostructure of cement paste by using a contrast variation method, small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) measurements of hardened cement paste (HCP) samples were conducted in BL15 TAIKAN at J-PARC. A disc shaped HCP sample was prepared using cement paste that was made of light water and ordinary Portland cement. After the sample was immersed in light water (or heavy water, or light/heavy mixture), it was used to measure the SANS profile. The SANS data analysis were performed with the neutron transmissions of samples for subtracting the background due to incoherent scattering of hydrogen. The data analysis and results of the SANS measurements are reported in this presentation.
