[2L02] Effect of lithium on corrosion behavior of functional coatings under gamma-ray irradiation

In fusion reactor liquid blankets, corrosion of structural materials and functional coatings by liquid tritium breeders such as lithium-lead (Li-Pb) under irradiation by neutrons and gamma-rays is a serious concern as well as tritium permeation. Our previous studies revealed the effects of heavy-ion irradiation as a simulation of neutron damage on Li-Pb compatibility using ceramic coatings; however, their effects of gamma-ray irradiation are unknown. In this study, the gamma-ray irradiation effect on Li-Pb compatibility for the ceramic coatings has been investigated through Li-Pb exposure under gamma-ray irradiation. Additionally, Pb exposure tests were conducted to discriminate the corrosion behavior of Li content.
