Keywords:Radiation-induced volume expansion, nanoindentation, X-ray diffraction, amorphization, flux effect, silicate minerals

To study the microscopic mechanism of radiation-induced volume expansion of concrete aggregate, 10 types of rocks, which simulate concrete aggregate in Japanese nuclear power plants, were irradiated at room temperature with 2.8 MeV Fe ions and 2 MeV electron, respectively. The volume expansion on the surface, instrumented indentation hardness, and radiation damage analyzed by X-ray diffraction and electron spic resonance spectroscopy will be reported.
