[1H05] Evaluation of Separative Performance of Water-Hydrogen Chemical Exchange Column Packed with Hydrophobic Platinum Catalyst Supported on Porous Silica Beads
Keywords:Water-Hydrogen Chemical Exchange, Hydrophobic Platinum Catalyst, total separation factor, tritium
Water-hydrogen chemical exchange is an important technology for the separation and purification of deuterium and tritium. We have previously developed a hydrophobic platinum catalyst using porous silica as a carrier. In this study, a water-hydrogen chemical exchange column packed with the catalyst was built, and experiments of isotope separation were carried out using about 0.2 MBq/cc of tritiated water. The tritium concentrations at the bottom and top of the column were measured and the total separation factor of the column was evaluated. The total separation factor calculated by a stage-wise model with the previously evaluated catalyst performance is in good agreement with the measured value.
