To establish chemical fundamentals of carbonate-based simple reprocessing technology, we have attempted recovery of U through photochemical reduction of a triscarbonato uranyl(VI) complex. As a result, U efficiently deposited as UO2 under light-illumination and presence of N2H4. We have also studied dependency on several parameters such as solution conditions and the light wavelength as well as impact of H2O2 added at the prior stage to dissolve spent nuclear fuels.
