(20) Proposal of passive safety structures with anti-catastrophic failure

As a new countermeasure in the field of structural strength against beyond basis events, we are proposing passive safety structures those do not fail catastrophically. A passively safe structures have a failure mode that has insignificant effect on safety functions precedes and naturally reduces loads and does not cause catastrophic failure leading to loss of function. Above proposal was applied to specific countermeasures for the case of reactor vessel and piping of the next-generation fast reactor under loss of cooling function accident and excessive earthquake.
