[2D02] Development of omni-directional directional detectors (FRIE)
(1) Design and fabrication of detectors and their characteristics
Keywords:Fractal Geometry, Radiation Imaging, Beta- and Gamma-Ray Measurement
We have developed a radiation detector in the shape of Sierpinski's tetrahedron, which is a fractal shape of self-similarity. Sixteen GAGG scintillators were arranged in a Sierpinski's tetrahedron shape with a tetrahedral radiation sensor as a unit, and the space between the sensors was filled with heavy metal. The three-dimensional arrangement of the tetrahedron shape has a fractal dimension of 2, and it efficiently counts radiation incident from all directions. The present paper describes the concept and the β In this presentation, the concept of the newly developed instrument and the results of characteristic experiment using β- and γ-ray sources will be reported based on the previous presentation at the AESJ conference.
