[2I08] Effect of Silicon on time-course changes of H-Na ion exchange reaction with A-type zeolites
Keywords:A-type zeolite, ion exchange, silicon, time-course change
To improve the safety and efficiency of water treatment at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, it is necessary to have a deep understanding of ion exchange reaction in the column. The results of the previous experiments showed that the simple ion-exchange model could not explain the time-course change of Na concentration. In this study, we analyzed the liquid composition and found Na and Si, which are components of A-type zeolite. We, then, presented a model which treats protons generated from the dissociation of silicic acid. Using the data of Si concentration in the time-course change, we calculated Na concentration by the model. The results of calculation reproduced well the tendency of prolonged monotone increasing in Na concentration.
