[2J05] Experimental study on breakup and splashing for liquid jet discharged from oval nozzle
Keywords:Single-phase jet, Oval nozzle, Impacting droplet, Impact frequency, Splashing droplet
When liquid jet is discharged vertically downward from an oval nozzle, the jet cannot keep continuous due to the overlapping of severe instabilities, and would finally break into a line of droplets (primary droplets) as the breakup developed. Although the size of primary droplet basically does not vary with the jet velocity, it changes as the instability that drives the breakup of liquid jet changing with the jet velocity. In this work, the size and frequency of primary droplet were measured, which are very important for the prediction of splashing ratio during liquid jet impingement onto a solid surface, and equations of them for the oval nozzle were given.
