[2J11] Investigation of Core Coolability during an Accident by Reactor Water Injection Using Severe Accident Analysis Code ASYST/SCDAPSIM
Keywords:Severe accident, core coolability, severe accident analysis code ASYST/SCDAPSIM
When water is injected into the core of a light water reactor as a measure to prevent the spread of a severe accident, the rise in reactor pressure due to steam generation may inhibit water injection, and the oxidative exothermic reaction between water and metals such as zirconium may inhibit cooling. Therefore, the timing of water injection initiation and the setting of an appropriate water injection flow rate are important to prevent the spread of accidents. In this study, core cooling behavior dependent on core conditions and water injection conditions was evaluated using the severe accident analysis code ASYST/SCDAPSIM with reference to the accident progress at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant.
