[3D11] Study on non-destructive inspection technology for concrete infrastructures using compact fusion neutron sources
Keywords:Compact fusion neutron source, D-D nuclear fusion reaction, Non-destructive inspection, Neutron detection
In recent years, development of non-destructive inspection technology for infrastructure such as road bridges using radiation generated from X-ray tubes, radioisotopes, and accelerators has been underway. We are considering an inspection system using a compact fusion neutron source as one of the non-destructive inspection systems for infrastructure. Early detection of sedimentation of concrete slabs under asphalt is one of the important factors in road maintenance and management, because sedimentation of concrete slabs under asphalt can lead to road cave-ins. Therefore, we focused on moisture that causes sedimentation of road bridges and investigated a method to detect moisture in the slab by scattered neutrons generated by a DD fusion neutron source. In this meeting, we report the results of simulation and demonstration experiments of this inspection method.
