[3D13] PIC-MCC analysis for high power operation of IEC compact neutron source
Keywords:neutron source, inertial electrostatic confinement fusion, glow discharge plasma, PIC-MCC simulation
When the input power to the inertial electrostatic confinement fusion neutron source is increased, the sputtering and local heating of the electrode surface due to the collision of high-energy particles becomes significant, and the impurity particles emitted from the electrode destabilize the discharge and suppress the neutron generation in the device. In order to solve this problem, PIC-MCC simulations are used to investigate the particle behavior in the device in detail, and the results of examining measures to mitigate the thermal load on the electrodes are reported.
