It is known that engineered barrier temperature and safety are affected by changes in the radioactive inventory of the vitrified waste and changes in heat generation due to the prolonged cooling period before reprocessing of spent fuel. Therefore, we investigated the effect of the prolonged cooling period before reprocessing of spent fuel on the re-saturation behavior of buffer materials. As a result of the evaluation by coupled thermal and hydraulic analysis, although there was a large difference in the temperature change inside the buffer, the re-submersion time did not change significantly.
