The authors have investigated the risk reduction effects of seismic diverse system consisting of seismic designed devices and seismic isolated devices. In our previous study, the risk reduction effect of introducing seismic isolation floor was examined both deterministically and probabilistically, assuming dynamic devices installed in a nuclear power plant building. Its study used artificial seismic ground motions that fitted to the design response spectrum and uniform hazard spectrum. In this study, we investigated the relationship between the natural period of seismic isolation floor and the risk reduction effect of seismic diversity systems under more realistic conditions using various strong ground motion observation records observed in Japan.
