[1M11] A Study for site planning and applicability of SMR on Japanese Nuclear Site
Keywords:Small Modular Reactor, Small Reactor, siting, decommissioning
Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) around 300 MWe electric power are widely developed in the world aiming to achieve capital cost reduction and higher safety. One of the features of SMR is higher flexibility in siting due to its small footprint. In our country, aiming to achieve GX, this high flexibility would potentially be high advantage for proceeding decommissioning and replacement by avoiding fault or others. In this study, conditions to allow construction of new SMRs to a narrow site, such as minimum area requirement, are investigated.
