[2C01] Development of preorganized planar pentadentate ligand for uranium recovery from seawater

Uranium in seawater attracts special attention as a sustainable resource of nuclear fuel materials. However, it is extremely diluted at 3.3 ppb, so that the development of ligands with high selectivity and high stability constants in complexation with U is much required. In this study, we developed preorganized planar pentadentate ligands to minimize reorientation energy, and synthesized their uranyl complexes.
