Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corporation has been developing SiC channel box and SiC cladding as accident tolerant core materials to pursue further improve the safety of light water reactors. The company has also started development of coated Zry cladding for BWRs as an accident tolerant core material aiming for early commercialization.
