[2F06] Changes in high school students' awareness of nuclear energy
Based on the results of the “High School Students Awareness Survey on Nuclear Energy”
Keywords:Atomic energy, High school student, Awareness survey, Geological disposal
Since 2020, we have been conducting a survey of the image of nuclear power generation among second-year high school students. This year, surveys were conducted in six regions both domestically and internationally. As the area has expanded, we have been able to visualize various differences in awareness, including differences in awareness regarding nuclear power generation. In addition, in order to expand the survey outside of Fukui Prefecture, we recruited high school students with an interest in nuclear power generation and conducted the survey in groups beyond the framework of their high school. In order to expand the forum for discussion of geological disposal, which is one of our major themes, we feel it is important to communicate this issue to third parties through connections with people of the same generation who are interested. This year's survey revealed that the image of nuclear power differs depending on the region, such as Tokyo or Okinawa Prefecture.
