[2G12] Investigation on addition and dispersion methods of carbide nanoparticles in functional ceramic coating

Investigations on functional coatings using ceramics have progressed to mitigate tritium permeation in fusion reactor blankets have progressed and shown a high hydrogen isotope permeation reduction performance and compatibility with tritium breeders. However, these performance might be degraded by the formation of microcracks during a long-term operation in the blanket by thermal cycles, irradiation, and corrosion. In this work, we investigated the addition and dispersion methods of nanoparticles that close microcracks by expansion with oxidation in order to enhance longevity of the functional coatings.
