[2H06] Neutron and gamma-ray characterization of LCV micellar gel dosimeters for boron neutron capture therapy
Keywords:BNCT, quality assurance, gel dosimeter, neutron and gamma-ray irradiation characterization, LET dependence
We are focusing on LCV micellar gel dosimeters capable of three-dimensional dose distribution estimation for quality assurance in boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT). BNCT irradiation field is mixed field of neutrons and gamma-rays in wider energy range, the basic dosimeters characterization for neutrons and gamma-rays is necessary. The characterization experiments were performed using Heavy Water Neutron Irradiation Facility of Kyoto University Reactor (KUR), and Cobult-60 Gamma-ray Irradiation Facility at Institute for Integrated Radiation and Nuclear Science, Kyoto University. Based on the obtained results, the dose response for each dose component was evaluated. It was also confirmed that the response of the dose components depends on the linear energy transfers (LETs) of the particles produced by the neutron nuclear reactions.
