[3B03] Study on high-efficiency γ-ray measurement system for environmental samples

Coaxial Ge semiconductor detectors are widely used for γ-ray spectrometry of environmental samples, but are not always suitable for the measurement of large volume samples. (This is because increasing the sample volume increases the geometry and moves it away from the detector, reducing detection efficiency.) In this study, an attempt was made to measure volumetric samples with high detection efficiency using a high-efficiency γ-ray measurement system designed with four coaxial Ge detectors. The effectiveness of this method is reported together with the results of its application to an actual environmental soil sample.
