[3B13] Development of a rapid measurement method for environmental tritium concentration
(7)Verification of isotope effects of hydrogen isotopes in Shellfish
Keywords:Treated water, Measurement of tritium concentration in fish
The microwave heating method is proposed as a rapid method for measuring tritium concentration in fish. While the freeze-drying method requires more than one month to recover the free water from the fish, the microwave heating method can measure tritium concentration in one sample in about one hour. In this study, shellfish were reared in an environment containing deuterium and tritium by adding heavy water containing tritium to seawater in an uncontrolled area using the microwave heating method, and free water was collected and measured. The uptake and release of heavy water and tritiated water in shellfish were measured, and isotope effects were also examined.
