In the irradiation material, the irradiation cascade forms a high density of point defects and defect clusters, which affect the microscopic structure and mechanical properties of the material. The cascade process presents the creation and disappearance of one or more high-energy regions (subcascades) before reaching a relative equilibrium state. It is found that the influence of high-density energy in the cascade process leads to the formation of large-sized clusters in the early stages of the cascade. These clusters are larger than the defect clusters formed by the self-aggregation of point defects, necessitating clarification of the cluster formation mechanism. In this study, we simulated the cluster formation process in cascades using molecular dynamics techniques and examined the conditions under which large-sized clusters form.
