The venting conditions are different in every nuclear power plant. They depend on the types of nuclear accidents. Therefore, different kinds of adsorbents are required. For this reason, we have developed AgX silver zeolite as a radioactive iodine adsorbent. It can be used in severe accident countermeasure filter vents. Due to high adsorption efficiency, it has been adopted by nuclear power plants in Japan. In response to requests, we also developed another radioiodine adsorbent AgR. AgR is not only characterized by its excellent iodine adsorption performance, but also weak hydrogen catalytic reaction. This is different from that of AgX. In this presentation, the characteristics of AgX and AgR will be reported, and an air purification system based on these technologies will also be introduced.
