[3E06] Development of chemical decontamination method for carbon steel
Confirmation of decontamination effect using waste materials from actual plant
Keywords:Chemical decontamination, Carbon steel, Formic acid, Ascorbic acid, Oxalic acid
In order to develop a decontamination method with high efficiency for carbon steel, we investigated the decontamination efficiency of decontamination agents containing malonic acid oxalic acid and decontamination agents containing formic acid and ascobic acid using test specimens containing Co-60 prepared in the laboratory. We also investigated the decomposition characteristics of decontamination agents in order to reduce the amount of ion exchange resin used in purification. As a result, no difference was found in decontamination efficiency, but in terms of decomposition characteristics, the amount of hydrogen peroxide used for decomposition was approximately 10 times greater in the former than in the latter. For this reason, we selected a decontamination agent containing formic acid and ascorbic acid, which are easily decomposed.
