EX-Fusion Inc. and Tokyo Institute of Technology have established a collaborative research cluster focused on advancing liquid metal devices for the realization of commercial laser inertial fusion reactors. The liquid lithium lead (LiPb) blanket of the commercial laser inertial fusion reactors is being designed conceptually. The scenario of the initial reactor operation with deuterium fuel is proposed, which can produce tritium fuel required for the steady-state D-T operation. The previous studies on LiPb fabrication methods are reviewed. The fabrication device is newly designed, which can fabricate high-purity LiPb. Low-melting-point metal mirror is designed as the final optics of the laser inertial fusion reactors to address the degradation issue of the final optics during the reactor operation.
