This paper introduces the application of liquid metal technology to seawater desalination and resource recovery from seawater. Freshwater was produced by direct contact distillation between seawater and liquid metal tin at 523-623 K. Mineral resources were then dissolved into liquid metal tin. Purification of arsenic polluted groundwater was also performed in the same process. On the other hand, this paper introduces the application of liquid tin alloy to direct conversion of CO2 into valuable resources. The decomposition of CO2 and the production of valuable chemical compounds (e.g., Al2O3 and Al4O4C) were performed by the injection of CO2 gas into liquid tin alloy (e.g., Sn-0.5%Al-0.5%Si and Sn-0.5%Al-0.5%Ti) at 573-673 K.
