[3G_PL01] Overview of Kindai University Reactor

*Hirokuni Yamanishi1 (1. Kindai Univ.)

Hands-on training using a reactor is essential for students to gain a deeper understanding of the knowledge learned in classroom lectures, but the opportunities for hands-on training using an actual reactor are extremely limited. Kindai University has a research reactor UTR-KINKI (rated thermal power 1W) for education and training, which has contributed to nuclear education in Japan for more than 60 years.
As a reactor that students can learn by operating it themselves, it is utilized for hands-on training by many universities and technical colleges, and is also used for workshops for science teachers, high school students, and overseas engineers. In this session, we will introduce recent human resource development activities that have been developed using the reactor and exchange opinions on future hands-on
training and education.
