[3H10] Measurement of the magnetic field gradient of a MEBT quad at LIPAc

The hard-edge model for a quad, assumes that magnetic fields at the edges sharply fall down, is often employed in beam optics simulations. Fringe fields of a quad are one of the reasons why mismatches between the designed and measured beam optics are caused. To investigate the fringe field of a quad installed in the MEBT at LIPAc, we measured the magnetic gradient of the quad with a 5MeV deuteron beam and compared it with one obtained by particle tracking simulations using hard-edge and field map models.
