JAEA has performed R&Ds of accelerator-driven system (ADS) to reduce the volume and hazardousness of high level radioactive waste. JAEA-ADS can transmute 250 kg of minor actinides with 800 MW thermal power. On the other hand, it is necessary to construct a small- to medium-scale pilot plant to demonstrate key technologies for the realization of JAEA-ADS. In this study, the requirements for a pilot ADS were organized and neutronics design was performed.
