[3M05] Development of a numerical method for heat transfer in a DEM-CFD simulation
Keywords:DEM-CFD, heat transfer
Gas-solid flows with heat transfer have been studied in various engineering fields. The discrete element method - computational fluid dynamics (DEM-CFD) is widely used in the simulation of gas-solid flows. The DEM-CFD method generally employs soft springs in the evaluation of elastic forces. However, there is a critical problem in applying the DEM-CFD method with soft springs to heat transfer problems. This is because the heat transfer between particles depends on the spring constant. Therefore, the objective of this study is to develop a new computational model to solve the problem of existing heat transfer models in the DEM-CFD method.
