[22] Study on Scenarios Analysis by Introducing LRT using CUE model

Local cities in Japan are facing the challenges of a declining population due to a falling birthrate and aging population, and the accompanying increase in the burden of infrastructure maintenance costs and reduction in public transportation. To efficiently promote the “Compact plus Network” policy, it is desirable to encourage residents to voluntarily reside in the centralized areas through urban policies such as improved public transportation services and subsidies, but it is still unclear how urban policies affect population aggregation. Therefore, this study uses an applied urban economic model to predict future population distribution for urban policy scenarios centered on the introduction of LRT. Based on the triple bottom line, we aim to quantify the impact of urban policies on cities.
