From the 1930s to the 1960s, green belt plans were often developed in Japan's metropolitan areas for the purpose of urban growth management, and the "Circular Greenbelt Plan" is known in the Tokyo metropolitan area. The purpose of this research is to elucidate the transition of the green belt plan in Yokohama, and the relationship, process and results of coordination with the circular greenbelt plan in Tokyo.
As a result, we clarified that the green belt plan in Yokohama was initially formulated as an extension of Tokyo's plan, but then the city of Yokohama developed its own greenbelt plan, and when The Capital Region Plan was introduced to Yokohama, adjustments were made between Yokohama city's plan and Capital plan, and as a result of the coordination, a greenbelt concept was planned based on the agreement of both parties.
