[61] The influence of local industry on urban space in local cities
- A case study of the timber industry in Shingu city, Wakayama

The purpose of this research is to clarify the impact of traditional industries on the transformation of urban space, taking up the timber industry in Shingu City as a case study. Although this research is only an individual case, by focusing on the changes of transportation method, we can get a point of view for comparison with other regions. Specifically, it is divided into water transport period, rail transport period, reconstruction period, and land transport period, and examines the relationship between the transition of the wood industry and the transformation of urban space. As a result of the research, it is found that the changes in the transportation system and the development of the industrial infrastructure are greatly related.
