[65] A study in staying behavior on the urban main street
- A case of social experiment on Midosuji Challenge 2022

The aim of this study was to understand the changes in staying behavior before and after the installation of staying spots in the road space. In this study, a staying behavior survey was conducted on the social experiment “Midosuji Challenge 2022” in Midosuji, Osaka. As a result, the following were identified. (1) The number of people who were staying increased and people who were staying were concentrated around benches. (2) Activities are diversified. (3) Staying time increases. (4) The staying behavior changes according to the number of staying people. From the above, it was confirmed that the benches installed on Midosuji, where there are large changes in traffic volume, are able to cope with the fluctuations in traffic volume.
