[66] Impact Analysis of "Street Surface Decoration" on Driver Safety Confirmation through Verification in An Experimental Environment
- Toward Establishing a People-First Street Environment within Community Streets

The design of new nonstatutory signs (street surface decorations) to make community streets people prioritized was experimentally examined. The first experiment asked participants to watch videos and track their eye movements. We could choose an appropriate design and place. The second experiment was conducted on a university campus, asking drivers to drive on the new nonstatutory signed road with eye-tracking glasses. This experiment revealed that 1) the presence or absence of road surface decorations makes no difference to the spatial awareness or total gazing time of the driver at risk locations, 2) drivers slow down, and 3) risk awareness increases.
