[73] Implementation Process of Walkable Strategy and Action Plan in Greater London

Walkable City has been attracting attention in recent years from the perspectives of health and climate change all over the world. In Japan, “Walkable Promotion Cities” had been proposed in 2019 and the number of participating municipalities is increasing year by year. Though some progressive municipalities have drawn up their walkable action plans, few examples are implemented. This paper aimed to clarify factors to implement walkable plans, focusing on Mayor’s Transport Strategy in Greater London, the UK. As a result, the organizational structure by Mayor of London, Transport for London and each London Borough based on the low and circular process based on EBPM with a lot of data are revealed as key factors for implementing walkable strategies.
