[145] Study on Changes in Transportation Modes among Public Transportation Users in the Corona Disaster Using Panel Data
- Focusing on Designated and Core Cities in Aichi Prefecture, Japan
Keywords:Covid-19, Public Transportation, Changing Transportation Methods
This study aimed to investigate the actual changes in transportation mode among public transportation users from 2021, when the COVID-19 pandemic was spreading, to 2022, when movements towards recovery were accelerating. A panel survey (n=1089) was conducted to reveal the situation. The findings were as follows: (1) about half of the respondents continued to use public transportation throughout the survey period, while about 40% switched to other transportation modes even during the post-pandemic period. (2) The factors behind the changes in transportation modes were analyzed using a multinomial logistic regression model. The results showed that the city and area of residence, available transportation options, frequency of going out, and the sense of security in public transportation significantly influenced the decision to switch to modes other than public transportation.
