Greeting
Welcome to the 14th Asian Pacific Conference on Shell and Spatial Structures (APCS 2025)
General Chair Toku Nishimura Professor, Dept. of Architecture, Kanazawa Institute of Technology |
On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the 14th Asian Pacific Conference on Shell and Spatial Structures (APCS 2025), it is a great honor and pleasure to welcome you to APCS 2025 in Kanazawa Japan.
The Asian Pacific Conference on Shell and Spatial Structures (APCS) was initially organized by the late Yasuhiko Hangai, a professor at the University of Tokyo, and TaekJin Kwum, an emeritus professor at Sungkyunkwan University. The conference was first held in Cheju, Korea in 1984 under the name "Japan-Korea Colloquium on Shell and Spatial Structures." Since then, the colloquium has been held once every three years and was renamed APCS during the fourth event in Tokyo in 1993. The previous conference was held jointly with IASS 2022 in Beijing. In 2025, which marks 41 years since the first Japan-Korea Colloquium, APCS will be held in Kanazawa, Japan.
APCS has been promoting the exchange of knowledge on various aspects of shell and spatial structures such as design concepts, analysis, and construction technology. This exchange mainly takes place between designers, engineers, and researchers in the Asia-Pacific region. The upcoming APCS 2025 is designed to provide comprehensive topics to encourage maximum participation, particularly among young participants. The keynote lecture will cover not only general themes related to shell and spatial structures but also the latest design and construction technology that contributes to a low-carbon society.
The venue Kanazawa was certified as a UNESCO creative city in the field of crafts in June 2009. As an SDGs future city, this city is working to innovate for a new era while inheriting handmade techniques and preserving traditional townscapes. You will enjoy a time of beautiful sights and seasonal cuisine during your visit.
First of all, hope to make APCS 2025 a fruitful conference for the participants.
We look forward to seeing you in Kanazawa.
Sincerely yours,
Toku Nishimura
