16th Forum on Data Engineering and Information Management

Call for Paper

  • All published submissions will be treated as papers published by the Japan Society.
  • There is no peer review, and in principle all submitted papers have the opportunity to be published.
  • Comments from commentators provide a useful and in-depth discussion.
  • In addition to various awards such as the Outstanding Paper Award, the Student Presentation Award, the Outstanding Interactive Award, and the Sponsor Award, we plan to nominate the paper for the special issue of the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Society and to collaborate with DBSJ Journal.
  • Nomination to the DBSJ journal of the Japan Database Society and Data-Driven Studies is planned.

Presentation Format

The presentation format is based on a set of online oral presentations and offline interactive presentations. However, if it is difficult to participate offline, it is possible to participate only in the oral presentation, and the position of the paper is the same. All submitted papers will have an opportunity for oral presentation. The number of interactive presentations may be limited by venue facilities and measures against infectious diseases. If there is only an oral presentation due to the spread of COVID-19, the interactive presentation will be cancelled.

Paper submission fee

The paper submission fee is 10,000 yen. The deadline for submitting papers is 2024/2/21 (Wed) 23:59 (JST). We will not refund the paper submission fee paid for any reason. A separate entry fee is required to participate.

Application for posting

Please apply from the application page. Please refer to this support information for participants and contributors. DEIM2024 uses a multi-track format. There are multiple tracks, and you can submit a paper after selecting the desired track. Please refer to the topic of each track and choose the track suitable for your post (up to the third choice). However, as a result of the Program Committee's review of the content of the paper, there is a possibility that the paper will be presented on a different track than the one you requested.

Track 1: Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning Foundations
Track 2: Big Data Infrastructure Technologies, Data Security, and Privacy
Track 3: Information Retrieval, Information Recommendation, Social Media
Track 4: Media Processing, HCI, Human-Centered Information Management
Track 5: Advanced Data and Domain Applications (Medical information, education, geographic information, etc.)

See the bottom of the page for details on each track.

Nomination of awards and journals

All published papers are subject to the selection of the (most) outstanding paper award and the selection of the award by the sponsoring company, and are subject to nomination by the Japanese Society of Database Science, Data-Driven Studies, Information Processing Society Yamashita Memorial Research Award, etc. All interactive presentations are subject to the selection of the (Best) Interactive Award. Oral presentations by students are subject to the selection of the Student Presentation Award.

About the first draft paper

Please upload your first draft paper to the submission site by the deadline. DEIM2024 does not perform peer review. Since the DEIM Forum is a national competition with many undergraduate and graduate students, we welcome the submission of papers on "incomplete studies" such as insufficient experiments. However, this first draft is used by the track chairs to create the program and also to design the session so that chairs and commentators can view and discuss more deeply during the session. Therefore, use the following checklist to check papers as "completed" rather than "unfinished" and submit papers that meet these criteria. The Program Committee may refuse to make a presentation if it deviates significantly from the purpose of the Forum or violates public order and morality.

Checklist

  • The topic of the paper does not deviate from the purpose of this forum.
  • There are no flaws in the appearance of the paper.
  • Meets the page criteria.
  • Obviously, there's no place left to write.
    • If some of the chapters are only chapter titles with no content, or there are only notes such as (I will write in the draft paper), please make sure to submit them with the appearance of a thesis.
  • In accordance with research ethics.

About the predraft paper

Please upload your predraft papers on the submission site by the deadline. Since the publication ID of the paper is given by the executive committee, it is not necessary for the author to state it explicitly in the submitted manuscript.

About the final paper

Please upload your final paper at the posting site after this forum. If the final paper is not submitted, the predraft paper is treated as the final paper. In the final paper, we recommend revisions to the paper based on comments from the chair and commentators and discussions at the meeting. The final paper will be published as official proceedings (electronic version) on this website. If you do not submit either the pre-draft paper or the final paper, even if you have paid for the submission of the paper, we will consider you as not willing to publish the paper and will not publish it in the final proceedings.

About republished papers

The DEIM Forum does not conduct peer review, and in principle all submitted papers are given the opportunity to be published. In other words, papers already published in other scientific meetings and publications (including international conferences and journals with paper reviews) that contribute to the development of the data engineering and information management fields are allowed to be republished in the DEIM Forum for more informative and in-depth discussions. When republishing a paper in the DEIM Forum, please take appropriate measures to ensure that the original paper is cited and that the copyright of others is not infringed.

Notes

  • This is not a training camp. Please arrange your own accommodation.
  • Submissions are based on a set of oral (online) + interactive (poster) presentations (on-site).
  • All presentations must be presented orally and submissions with only interactive presentations will not be accepted.
