世話人よりハイライトの紹介：最近の西日本新生代造構論争は，①暁-始新世イザナギ・太平洋海嶺の沈み込み，②始新世太平洋プレートの運動変化，③ フィリピン海プレートの成立・拡大・移動，④背弧拡大と列島回転， ⑤太平洋からフィリピン海プレートへの沈み込むプレート転換と異常火成活動，⑥ 後期中新世におけるフィリピン海プレートの沈み込み再開と側方圧縮テクトニクスの本格化，と再整理される．それぞれについての対立仮説と検証方法を論ずる.※ハイライトとは
