[D3-01] Challenges and Opportunities of GIS for the Next 30 Years

Great achievements have been made in GIS during the past 30 years. However, the sustainability of GIS community is facing many challenges amongst global and local changes in demography and technology. Looking for answers against the complex situations, the board of GISA organized a brainstorming workshop after the general annual meeting on May 27, 2023. Built on discussions at the workshop, this paper reviews the development path of GIS in the past 30 years and look over the opportunities for the associations next 30 years. As a conclusion, IAG’i is expected an effective platform for GISA, KAGIS and TEGO to expand academic exchanges and collaborations cross disciplines.
