[P1-03] Analyzing the relationship between heat wave and summer household electricity
Keywords:Heat Wave, Sensible Temperature, Household Electricity Usage, Threshold, Panel Threshold Regression
This study analyzed the relationship between household electricity usage in summer and sensible temperature, taking humidity into account. The heat perceived by a person in response to a change in temperature is not linear and may become more intense as the temperature increases. Therefore, we analyzed the relationship between the two variables through panel threshold regression analysis and calculated the threshold temperature at which electricity usage rapidly changes. The relationship between sensible temperature and summer household electricity usage was divided into three intervals. The value that separates the bands corresponds to the threshold value, which was calculated in this study. The results of this study confirm the effect of a sensible temperature on electricity usage, which can be used as a proxy variable for heat wave damage. Moreover, the findings suggest the need to secure appropriate response measures according to heat levels.
