[P1-21] Risk assessment of the emerging zoonoses in South Korea
Keywords:Zoonosis, Land Use Planning, Risk Analysis, One-Health, Spillover
Notorious diseases, such as Avian Influenza, Ebola, and COVID-19, which affected modern society are zoonoses. Unlike waterborne bacteria, it is difficult to control a zoonosis by improving water and sewage infrastructure. Therefore, to handle the emerging zoonosis disease, the one-health approach, which deals with the human, animal, and the environment sectors should be considered. Therefore, research on the risk assessments of urban and rural regions, which have a high likelihood of emerging zoonosis, was conducted. This study analyzes the habitat of migratory birds, livestock farms, and urban areas. The results identify the areas which possess a high possibility of emerging zoonoses through spillover in South Korea. Future land use planning can be improved based on this research.
